Environment Minister Mohammad Mashnouq said Friday that objections over the construction of a dam in the Janna Valley are not politically motivated.
“We are keen on implementing the law in this regard,” Mashnouq stated, stressing that personal interests will harm the project.
Mashnouq called for evaluating the construction of the dam from an environmental aspect, emphasizing that the Cabinet has the only right to approve this project.
The minister also pointed out that cutting trees in the site of the dam is illegal, saying “I will not agree on something that could turn into a catastrophe.”
