Vote counting begins after polls close in North Lebanon and Akkar
Polls closed at 07:00 pm in Sunday May 29th in North Lebanon and Akkar after a long electoral day to vote for municipal councils and mokhtars.
  

According to figures provided by the Interior Ministry, the final voter turnout reached 26.9% in Tripoli, 43.8% in Koura, 54.4% in Batroun, 57.2% in Minieh-Donnieh, 61.6% in Akkar, 36.6% in Bsharreh and 36.68% in Zgharta 

 
This as the Interior Ministry announced that the heads of polling stations in the villages of Ain Zeit and Bazal were changed for violations.
 
On another note, Minister of Interior Nouhad Machnouq paid a visit to Mufti of Tripoli and the North Sheikh Malek Chaar in Tripoli, noting that the incidents linked to the municipal elections are limited.
 
He also noted that several persons were arrested in this regard.
 
Meanwhile, Lebanese Forces MP Strida Geagea said after casting her vote in Bcharre that the turnout reached at 1:00 PM 21%, adding that the final results "will reveal the size of each side."
