REPORT: Fierce competition, high voter turnout highlight Tannourine elections
The northern town of Tannourine witnessed on Sunday a fierce competition between the electoral list backed by the Lebanese Forces and the Free Patriotic Movement and the list backed by Minister of Telecommunication Boutros Harb.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil said after casting his vote that he is “proud of the electoral process that is taking place in Tannourine,” adding that they do not seek to divide the families.

For his part, Minister Harb said that the electoral battle "must be developmental and not political," adding that the other side "turned it into a political and developmental battle."

Harb reiterated that the list he is backing does not include any member affiliated with the Future Movement.

Meanwhile, Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra told LBCI that the alliance between the LF and the FPM does not seek to eliminate anyone.”

He also noted that they sought conciliation in Batoun, mainly in Tannourine, but failed to do so.
