Political official of the Jamaa al-Islamiya in Tripoli and the North Ihab Nafeh submitted Tuesday his resignation.
"The results of the municipal elections in Tripoli and the North have proven that our choice was not right. Consequently, I have submitted my resignation," Nafeh said in a statement.
Yesterday, Tripoli MP Robert Fadel announced his resignation from parliament, protesting the surprising results of Sunday's elections in the northern city in which no Christian candidates managed to win seats on the municipal council.
