Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri stressed that he paid a high price for his absence away from Beirut, slamming “the use of martyrs’ names in cheap bids.”
During an Iftar held at Beit al-Wasat, Hariri delivered a speech whereby he said that the Future Movement will always remain steadfast and will not fail in protecting Lebanon.
On his visit to Syria, Hariri said that “he went to redeem the Arab reconciliation with his personal dignity,” pointing out that Saudi Arabia was seeking to end the conflicts between the Arab states, starting with Lebanon, while Syria’s Bashar al-Assad wanted to betray the kingdom’s initiative and role and to destroy the Hariris’ role in Lebanon.
“Bashar al-Assad is an expert in making false promises and he was plotting with his allies to politically assassinate me,” he stated.
Commenting on the presidential issue, Hariri revealed that he wanted the dialogue with Hezbollah to constitute a key to all the locked doors preventing the presidential elections.
“When all the doors were closed before all our allies and consensual candidates, we supported the candidacy of MP Sleiman Frangieh,” he said.
