A cabinet session was held at the Grand Serail on Friday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tammam Salam, where the projects undertaken by the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) were discussed.
Following the session, Information Minister Ramzi Jreij announced that "the cabinet decided to request upon all ministries to provide the CDR within 25 days, with all the data it has on implemented and in progress projects since 2008."
Jreij also noted that the Cabinet session will meet next week on Tuesday and Thursday.
In the same context, Education Minister Elias Bou Saab revealed that the CDR was given one month to complete the report related to its projects.
Agriculture Minister Akram Shehayeb said that “the cabinet requested an analytical study on the finances of CDR projects”, pointing out that they did not address the waste dossier.
For his part, Telecommunications Minister Boutros Harb emphasized that CDR’s report was “good”, stating that the cabinet will follow up with this matter at a later session.
Culture Minister Rooney Areiji said that “some ministers cited their observations on projects implemented in their areas.”
Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil had attended the session bringing in with him a report titled ,“The unbalanced development in the implementation of projects across the region.”
Prior to the session, resigned Labor Minister Sejaan Azzi stressed that “he symbolizes a Maronite, Christian Kataeb party member in his ideologies and principles.”
Education Minister Elias Bou Saab said that “they will be questioning who the decision maker is, when it comes to implementing or putting off projects.”
For his part, Health Minister Wael Abou Faour stated that “he will not accept the extravagance of public money, pointing out that he had visited Salam, who showed him the inclusions in the Costa Brava tender.
