The Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) explained in a press release on Friday that the decision on the Costa Brava landfill tender was taken on the 27th of May, pointing out that it was only initial and was not approved due to the high cost.
The statement added that they had been waiting on the Bourj Hammoud landfill bid opening, in order to compare the prices to the estimated cost set by the Costa Brava consultation office.
CDR’s Government Commissioner Walid Safi said the information published in CDR’s statement was “inaccurate”.
Safi emphasized that the Costa Brava contract was referred to the Government Commission on the 22nd of June with all documents ,ready to be signed and were also submitted to the head of the council, but he refused to sign them after a vast difference was noticed in the prices between Costa Brava and Bourj Hammoud landfill tenders.
