REPORT: Stars turn out for annual BET Awards

Musicians and actors rubbed shoulders on the red carpet for the annual BET Awards on Sunday (June 26).

 

Musicians Janelle Monae, Alicia Keys and Mya were among the musicians to walk the red carpet alongside the likes of Samuel L.Jackson.

 

Founded in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate the achievements of members of the African American community during the year from arts and entertainment through to sports and humanitarian work.

 

It was announced prior to the event, which was to be hosted by Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, that the 2016 event would be a tribute to the late singer songwriter Prince who died of an accidental overdose in April.
