Officials denounce al-Qaa attacks

Eight suicide bombers attacked the northeastern town of al-Qaa on Monday, killing five people and wounding dozens more, in the latest violent spillover of the five-year-old Syrian war into Lebanon.

Head of Progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblatt said Tuesday that “what happened in al-Qaa is much bigger than Lebanon’s political leaders.”

“Let us focus on fortifying the army and the Security Forces instead of exchanging accusations,” Jumblatt added via his Twitter account.

For his part, Head of the Lebanese Democratic Party MP Talal Arslan stressed that the Cabinet needs to take extraordinary measures in order to support the steadfastness of al-Qaa’s residents.
