Geha draws similarities between his attempted assassination and father’s killing

Journalist Mustafa Geha pointed out on Sunday large similarities between his attempted assassination and the killing of his father, the writer Mustafa Geha, who was killed in 1992 while driving his car in the town of Sabtiyeh. Prior to his death, his father was subjected to a serious of threats in the wake of his contentious Arabic publications, mainly “Khomeini assassinates Zoroaster”, “Lebanon under the Baath” and “the plight of minds in Islam Geha came under fire at 11 p.m. Saturday night on Damour highway.

The five shooters were in a black Mercedes and were chasing him along the highway.

Six bullets pierced through Geha’s car, but he remained unharmed. Security forces rushed to the scene and launched investigations into the incident.

In a statement to LBCI, Geha refrained on Sunday from revealing the party that he doubts is behind his attempted assassination.

The Center for Defense of media freedoms and cultural rights "SKIES" condemned in a statement the incident “which reveals the obvious perpetrators attempt to shut him down and to foil any serious investigation into his father assassination which took place more than 20 years ago.”

The center called on security and judicial authorities to launch a full investigation into the incident, to reveal the identity of the perpetrators and to inflict sever punishments on them.
