Prime Minister Tammam Salam chaired a security meeting with Security chiefs at the Grand Serail on Tuesday, to further discuss the consequences of the bombings that took place in al-Qaa on Monday.
The participants said in a press release that "Al-Qaa explosions form a shift in the war launched by terrorist organizations on Lebanon, and could be a sign of a new phase, one that’s more aggressive at the confrontation of the terrorists who are working closely to drag Lebanon into chaos."
"The national responsibility requires keeping the Lebanese people alert to the potential risks, as the possibility of this terrorist attack igniting a series of terrorist operations cannot be ruled out, this comes in light of the information reaching security apparatuses."
Prior to the meeting, General Security Chief Abbas Ibrahim stressed that “the security apparatuses were anticipating a new terror attack after a series of investigations that took place.”
Ibrahim pointed out that “it’s still uncertain if a woman was among the suicide bombers”, in contrary to what Lebanese Army Leader Jean Kahwaji stated that “ among the suicide bombers was a woman and three Syrians nationals”.
“We are at a new phase of terrorist attacks,” Kahwaji added.
For his part Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk announced that "it has been certified that the bombers came from inside Syria and not from the camps” pointing out that Lebanon is all-out on confrontations with terrorism.
On another note,State Security apparatus Major General George Qaraa failed to attend the meeting.
