Prime Minister Tammam Salam stressed that the fight on terror will take time, noting that among “the requirements for victory come the refusal to succumb to the state of panic that the terrorists attempt to spread among the Lebanese people, and the abstention from being dragged into strife, into which they have been trying to drown the country.”
In a letter addressing the Lebanese people on Eid al-Fitr, Salam pointed out that this battle requires the fortification of stability with an appropriate political atmosphere that can be achieved through the election of a new president.
Salam, who apologized for not accepting congratulation on the holiday occasion during the current situation, stressed the need to support the Lebanese Armed Forces and security apparatuses in deterring any attempt to destabilize the country.
