REPORT: Rocket attacks kill at least 30 in Syria's Aleppo

Syrian state media says 30 people have been killed in rocket fire overnight in Aleppo, the country's largest city and the scene of some of the fiercest fighting in Syria's civil war, now in its sixth year.

SANA says rebel groups targeted residential neighborhoods in the government-held area of the divided city, hammering them with rocket fire Friday night.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says 34 people were killed, 6 of them women or children. It says a further nine, among them eight women and children, were killed in presumed Russian or Syrian government airstrikes and rocket attacks on the opposition-held side of the city.

A government offensive made the last supply route to the opposition side impassable Thursday. The Observatory says clashes are ongoing in the area.
