REPORT: Conflicting reports surround gang-rape of 16-year-old in North Lebanon

Conflicting reports are still looming over the case of the alleged rape of 16-year-old I.M. in the region of Dahr al-Ain in Koura district, by three men from Tripoli’s Zahrieh identified as “Khaled M.,” “Houssam D.” and “Najib D.,” as well as a fourth person suspected to be involved.

In this regard, the coroner stressed that girl was not subect to rape and there are no marks on her body suggesting that she has been attacked or abused.

However, a gynecologist, who examined the victim, confirmed that she has been raped.

In turn, the president of North Lebanon Bar Association declared that he will ban any lawyer from pleading in the case.

The security forces had arrested the three men involved in the case pending investigation, but did not put the rape under the rape category.

Early reports quoted sources as saying that the mother of one of the assailants died from a stroke after learning of the incident.

The girl lives at her grandfather's house in Tripoli's Abi Samra while her father lives abroad.

Other sources said that the grandfather suffered from a heart attack after he heard news of the rape. He was admitted to a hospital and is in a critical condition.
