President election session to be held Wednesday
House Speaker Nabih Berri issued Monday a convocation calling on Lebanese MPs to attend the 42nd parliamentary session set to elect a new head of state.

The session will be held on Wednesday July 13, 2016 at the Parliament.

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since the mandate of President Michel Sleiman ended in May 2014 without the election of a successor.

Deep disputes between rival political parties have thwarted the electoral process, with Lebanese lawmakers failing for 41 consecutive times to elect a president due to a lack of quorum.
