Prime Minister Tammam Salam condemned Friday the terror attack which targeted the French city of Nice, stressing Lebanon’s solidarity with France at this very difficult time.
In a letter he sent to the French President Francois Hollande, Salam expressed deep sadness over this “despicable crime.”
“The choice of July 14 to carry out this crime is an attack on freedom,” the PM added.
Tawhid Party chief Wiam Wahhab described Nice attack as “a heinous terrorist act,” calling for standing by the French people to confront the terrorism that France is facing.
“Will Washington enter into a serious war against terror in Iraq and Syria or will it continue its maneuvers until it receives a strike form terrorists themselves?” Wahhab asked via his Twitter account.
He also pointed out that US Secretary of State John Kerry condemned earlier today the Nice attack, while in the recent past he did all he could to protect terrorist organizations operating in Syria.
Wahhab concluded by calling upon Muslim Arab states to make a serious stand against terrorism, which shouldn't be restricted to verbal condemnation.
For his part, Head of Future Movement Saad Hariri paid his respects to the French President Francois Hollande condemning what he called a “barbaric crime”.
Hariri stressed his solidarity with the people of France pointing out that “ the international community should make concerted efforts to put an end to such hateful and barbaric attacks, which violate all religious principals and moral values.”
