Bulgarian prosecutors have indicted Meliad Farah and Hassan El Hajj Hassan with terrorism for their alleged involvement as accomplices in a bombing that killed five Israeli tourists at Burgas airport in Bulgaria in 2012, prosecutors said on Friday.
"The indictment has been filed with the Specialized Criminal Court. The two men, for whom a red notice has been issued by Interpol, are charged with terrorism," Rumiana Arnaudova, spokeswoman for the prosecutors' office, said.
The trial will be held in absentia as the whereabouts of Farah, 35 and Hassan, 28 - respectively Australian and Canadian citizens of Lebanese origin - remain unknown.
Bulgarian authorities blamed Lebanese Shi'ite Muslim militant group Hezbollah for the attack. Hezbollah denied involvement. The European Union subsequently placed Hezbollah's armed wing on its terrorism blacklist.
