REPORT: Results of Qaraoun Lake sample tests revealed

Health Minister Wael Abou Faour told LBCI on Saturday that the results of the tests performed on samples taken from the Qaraoun Lake revealed high levels of pollution in the water.

However, the tests also said that the Arsenic chemicals are not the cause behind the death of fish in the said lake.

After meeting with municipal leaders in towns surrounding the Litani River, Abou Faour held a news conference, saying that Lebanon should not wait for the funds which might not come, as they will not solve the pollution crisis.

He also pointed out that he had contacted Prime Minister Tammam Salam who will call for a meeting to be held with several ministries within the Cabinet in a bid to put a national plan to address the issue.
