Change and Reform bloc MP Ibrahim Kanaan confirmed Saturday that all the contacts at the current stage aim at finding a solution to the presidential vacuum, seemingly since all the alarming issues will be addressed through the election of a new head of state.
Kanaan’s remarks were made during an interview with LBCI’s Nharkom Said whereby he stressed that Saudi Arabia does not veto anyone.
“We should find a real national solution that will keep the country away from the terror we are facing,” the lawmaker added.
Speaking of Lebanon’s offshore gas and oil reserves, Kanaan said that this file had restored the communication between House Speaker Nabih Berri and General Michel Aoun.
He added, however, that a deal was not reached in this regard as the file should be approved by the Cabinet.
As for the vote law, Kanaan said that contacts are being made with the Lebanese Forces in a bid to reach “common denominators” in terms of a new draft law that ensures a fair and just representation.
