REPORT: After Jebchit and Aitaroun, mixed-sex sports banned in Khiam

Men and women took part in the marathon held by the town of Haramoun, but this participation was not allowed for the girls and women from the town of Khiam, according to the municipality’s website.

According to the website, Khiam Mayor Ali al-Abdallah gave clear instructions banning the registration of women to participate in the “Haramoun Marathon.”

The decision was made despite the reservations expressed by a number of members from the municipal council, which is mostly dominated by Hezbollah.
