Chairman of the Iranian parliamentary committee for national security and foreign policy, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, met with Prime Minister Tammam Salam and other Lebanese officials on Tuesday.
Following the meeting, Boroujerdi stressed Iran’s support for national unity in Lebanon, pointing out that “all those who care about the interests of the region and its people, should continue their fight against terrorism until final victory is achieved”.
Iran’s Boroujerdi also met with Speaker Nabih Berri, where he hoped the dialogue held between Lebanese parties would result in resolving unsettled issues in Lebanon, stressing that the presidential elections are an internal Lebanese matter.
Boroujerdi explained that Iran does not support any candidate at the Lebanese presidential elections.
“The developments in the region are very delicate, and the phenomenon of terrorism is now threatening all countries, and its flames are reaching some parties that were the reason behind its creation,” he added.
