Reports say Sweden to deport Lebanese nationals; Minister Azzi responds with threats

Labor Minister Sejaan Azzi sent a letter to the Swedish ambassador to Lebanon requesting inquiries regarding reporting saying that Sweden is seeking to deport Lebanese nationals working there.

“Should this expulsion fail to be justified from a legal and security perspective, Lebanon’s Labor Ministry will impose similar measures against the Swedish nationals working in Lebanon, regardless of their job or situation,” he said.

In this context, Azzi stressed that his Ministry refuses that Lebanese nationals abroad be dealt with in such a matter, “as if there’s no state to protect them.”
