Future Bloc reiterates “sincere calls” for Hezbollah to distance itself from regional wars
The Future bloc reiterated on Tuesday “its sincere calls” for Hezbollah to reconsider its current policies and putting a swift end for its involvement in the regional wars in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
The bloc’s comments were made following its weekly meeting, whereby it said that Hezbollah Sec5retary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is “once again” overcoming the Lebanese Constitution with his political statements, whether in terms of electing a new president, electing a new parliament or choosing a new Prime Minister, calling for respecting the Constitution and abiding by its provisions and articles.
As for Nasrallah endorsing Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun’s candidacy for the presidency, the bloc said that Hezbollah has not the right to disrupt the parliamentary sessions tasked to elect a new president.
The bloc also blamed Hezbollah for the ongoing presidential vacuum in the country.
Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since the mandate of President Michel Sleiman ended in May 2014 without the election of a successor.
Deep disputes with rival political parties have thwarted the election process with Hezbollah and the Free Patriotic Movement boycotting the parliamentary sessions.
