Minister Chehayeb from Rabieh: There are no disputes with the Kataeb party

Minister of Agriculture Akram Chehayeb visited on Friday Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun in Rabieh.

Talks reportedly featured high over the trash crisis whereby Chehayeb asserted that the problem "is clear in this file."

“It's either that trash returns to the streets, or we stick to the four-year temporary plan," Chehayeb added.

He also noted that will not enter into a heated debate in this regard, adding however that there are no disputes with the Kataeb party.

On Thursday, Kataeb party leader MP Sami Gemayel said that the Bourj Hammoud landfill “will destroy people’s health.”

“Sukleen will landfill %96 of the trash collected in Bourj Hammoud landfill without sorting it,” Gemayel said during a press conference.

He also noted that alternatives for Bourj Hammoud landfill can be easily found and lie in the plan submitted by Minister of Agriculture Akram Chehayeb that focuses on the decentralization of the waste.

He concluded by stressing that permanent health and environmental decentralized solutions can be implemented with the funds allocated for the Bourj Hammoud landfill.
 
Later on Thursday, Minister Chehayeb criticized Gemayel’s statements, saying his ministers had participated in a Cabinet session that approved the trash plan.
