REPORT: Lebanon suffers from lack of accountability, says MP Fadlallah

Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Hassan Fadlallah said on Tuesday that “the conferees discussed the wasting of public money, while Judge Ali Ibrahim spoke of the latest updates on investigations into the illegal internet dossier.”

Fadlallah’s remarks came following the Telecommunications Committee meeting that wad held at the Parliament today.

He stressed that “the committee does not interfere with the work of the court.”

“We have come a long way, but the image that we are reflecting upon Lebanon is the absence of accountability,” he added.

For his part, Telecommunications Minister Boutros Harb said that "some of the suspects in the case admitted to using illegal methods, but have not been arrested or questioned.”

In turn, Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil pointed out that theft of public money has been taking place, stressing that the committee has not been able to hold offenders accountable, but is following up on the case.
