Head of the Parliament’s Finance and Budget Committee MP Ibrahim Kanaan said that the solution reached by the cabinet for the waste crisis is not perfect, stressing the importance of resorting to the administrative decentralization in this case.
Following the committee’s meeting held to discuss the waste management crisis, Kanaan noted that they need a transitional period until the decision on the administrative decentralization becomes final, adding that the federation of municipalities concerned in the waste issue have been invited to take part in a session to be held on Wednesday.
In this context, Kanaan refused to turn the Metn coastline and streets into landfills, stressing that the committee is open to all solution proposals. He pointed out that there will be a complete liberation to the prerogatives of the municipalities as independent authorities.
