Future bloc: National Pact means commitment to coexistence
The Future bloc said on Tuesday that the “National Pact means the commitment to coexistence and avoiding all that weakens it.”
The bloc’s comments were made following its weekly meeting whereby it noted that "those who are talking about the national Pact do so only on media.”
“The latest stances issued by Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil are the best example,” it added.
The bloc noted that Bassil’s comments contradict the principle of the National Pact and stir tensions.
Minister of the Displaced Alice Shabitini had recently lashed out at Free Patriotic Movement leader and Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil.
“Cursed are those who are not allowing the election of a president,” Shabtini said in response to a recent speech addressed by Bassil.
“Cursed are those who attempt to uproot us from cabinet through holding sessions that violate the National Pact,” the FPM chief said on Thursday.
The FPM's latest boycott of the cabinet is linked to the controversial issue of military and security appointments.
