MP Walid Jumblatt called for banning “Wings of Lebanon” Airline Company from using Beirut International Airport and prosecuting its agents.
In comments posted via Twitter, Jumblatt said “hesitation seemed clear in some officials’ statements over Wings of Lebanon plane landing in Israel; therefore, the appropriate measure to be taken in this regard is to ban the company from using Beirut airport and to prosecute its agents on charges of collaborating with Israel.”
On Thursday, confusion arose when a “Wings of Lebanon” plane landed in Tel Aviv airport. The plane had been transporting passengers coming from Antalya.
“Wings of Lebanon” said in a statement it was surprised and angered by the incident, adding that this particular plane had been rented from a Turkish company called Tailwind Airlines to run charter flights between Beirut and Antalya.
The Lebanese airline noted that the plane had been recently sent back to Turkey for maintenance, and was surprised to discover that it had been used to fly between Antalya and Israel during that period, the statement added.
