REPORT: Public drivers call on Lebanese people to boycott vehicle inspection centers
Public drivers urged Monday the Lebanese people to boycott vehicle mechanical inspection centers across the country until the state takes control over them.

"The mechanical inspection center was established by law and should be run by law," the drivers said outside Beirut's inspection center in Hadath.

The protesters said that the inspection centers no longer serve their intended goals because "they are full of corruption and bribes."

They also called on drivers unions to hold a meeting on Wednesday to plan upcoming steps and prepare for a general strike later this month.

Also on Monday, the drivers briefly blocked the automotive inspection center in the northern city of Tripoli outside, causing a huge traffic jam in the area.
