Ambassadors call on Lebanese political factions to elect president
The ambassadors of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council urged Lebanon’s politicians on Thursday to put aside their differences and to work for the national interest.

The ambassadors expressed their concern over the twenty-seven-month presidential vacancy in the country, which continues to render the Parliament incapable of passing critical legislation.

The ambassadors’ comments came after meeting Prime Minister Tammam Salam.

They also “commended” Salam’s efforts and expressed their “ongoing support for his work”.
