Bassil: Syrian refugee crisis is threatening the "Lebanese identity”

Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil asserted that his ministry is deploying efforts to return the Lebanese nationality to whomsoever deserves it.

 

Bassil’s comments were made at the closing ceremony of the Lebanese Diaspora Energy conference in New York on Saturday.

 

He warned that the Syrian refugee crisis is threatening the "Lebanese identity.”

 

The UNHCR says that Lebanon hosts more than 1 million registered Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

 

These are in addition to about half a million Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.
