No official statement has been issued by the Free Patriotic Movement Member concerning Speaker Nabih Berri’s remarks stating that he will not elect MP Michel Aoun for the presidency, unless within the framework of a national agreement package that includes solutions for the post-presidency stage.
However, only MP Salim Salhab called on Berri to change his mind.
In turn, Future Movement used Berri’s position to strenghthen its support to Frangieh, claiming that it is not the only party rejecting Aoun as a presidential candidate.
