Rifi says electing either Aoun or Frangieh is surrender, not compromise

Resigned Minister of Justice Ashraf Rifi indicated Wednesday that Future movement’s support to Marada Movement chief MP Sleiman Frangieh is “like treating a mistake by another”, stating that “MP Michel Aoun and Frangieh are equally committed to Hezbollah’s plan which puts the state’s institutions at risk.”

He added that both Frangieh and Aoun, if elected, “will cover Hezbollah’s role as a tool for Iran in Lebanon and in the region,” pointing out that choosing any of them for presidency would be a surrender and not a settlement.”

Rifi also called on everyone to withdraw their support to Aoun and Frangieh, stressing that that unity is the only solution for the current situation.
