REPORT: Environment minister insists his ministry not responsible for waste crisis

Minister of environment emphasized once again that the Garbage file is one of the Interior ministry’s responsibilities.

 

However, laws determining the duties of the Environment Ministry stipulate that it is in charge of preserving the environment from pollution and impairment. Another item in this law states that the ministry has to set up strategies, plans, programs and studies to manage solid waste and hazardous and non-hazardous waste, as well as liquid domestic and industrial waste. The ministry is also in charge of controlling the implementation of these plans, the law stipulates.
