REPORT: Maydoun residents protest quarry closure, vow to escalate
Residents of Maydoun town, quarry owners and truck drivers carried out Tuesday a sit-in in western Bekaa, cutting off the area’s main road in both directions for two hours with trucks and bulldozers.

The residents were protesting against a decision to close quarries in western Bekaa, while the work of that of Dahr al-Baidar will not be halted.

The protesters called for “backing down on this decision,” vowing to take escalatory steps should their demands are not met.
