Judge charges two with negligence over Sidon boat incident
The state-run National News Agency reported on Tuesday that Public Prosecutor for South Lebanon Judge Rahif Ramadan charged the owners of a boat that capsized off the southern city of Sidon with negligence and accused them of disregarding safety measures.
The agency identified the two persons as Abdel Majid Al-Adlouni and Kamel Al-Adlouni who were accused of causing the boat to sink.
They were referred to south Lebanon Investigative Magistrate Munif Barakat.
Three people were killed and several others were wounded two weeks ago when the captain of the boat reportedly lost control of the vessel, which was carrying about 20 people as it returned to Sidon from the nearby island, plunging passengers into the water.
