REPORT: Future bloc MPs urge political parties to partake in election session
The Future bloc said on Tuesday that Future Movement leader ex-Prime Minister Saad Hariri has launched upon his return to Lebanon a series of consultations.
The bloc’s comments were made following its weekly meeting whereby it noted that the consultations aimed at speeding up the election of a president, urging all political parties to participate in Wednesday’s session.
The bloc also stressed the importance of electing a new president in solving the majority of the country’s ongoing crisis.
Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since the mandate of president Michel Sleiman ended in May 2014 without the election of a successor.
Deep disputes between rival political parties have thwarted the election process.
On another note, the bloc urged the International community to put an end for the massacres that are taking place in Syria’s Aleppo.
Aleppo, Syria's largest city and former commercial center, has been fiercely contested since rebels captured several eastern neighborhoods in 2012.

Those neighborhoods are now under siege, and over the past week have endured the worst aerial onslaught since the start of the war, with more than 200 people killed and several buildings flattened.

The battle for the city still appears to be mired in stalemate. Government forces captured the Handarat area on the northern edge of Aleppo over the weekend, only to lose it hours later.

The latest escalation came after a weeklong cease-fire brokered by the U.S. and Russia unraveled, which each side accusing the other of violating the agreement.
