Salam: Lebanon is facing one of the most difficult phases in its history
Prime Minister Tammam Salam called on Wednesday for an immediate solution to the country’s political crisis, saying that Lebanon is facing one of the most difficult phases in its history.
Salam’s comments were made during the launching ceremony of a conference called “The advancement of Lebanon toward state development,” whereby he reiterated the importance of electing a new president in order to stop the economic deterioration of the country.
Lebanon has been without a president since the mandate of Michel Sleiman ended in May 2014 without the election of a successor.
For his part, Minister of Labor Sajaan Azzi stressed the importance of the collective work in order to save the country.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil called for making serious preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections based on an electoral law that gives apt representation for the Lebanese people.
