Contrary to its situation at the beginning of the Syrian revolution, the Syrian opposition has currently reached its weakest and lowest point.
The latest setbacks it has sustained are those resulting from the escalation in fighting between its different factions, especially between Jund al-Aqsa and Ahrar al-Sham in rural Idlib and Hama.
In the fierce fighting, these two groups, considered among the most powerful of them all, lost tens of their leaders.
The first results of this bloody dispute is represented by the Syrian regime’s retaking of the majority of the strategic areas it has lost last month in rural Hama, on which the opposition has been depending after its losses in Aleppo.
As for Aleppo that has been and remains the touchstone of the Syrian conflict, the latest facts reveal a new scenario where the opposition fighters could be soon evacuated, similar to what happened in Homs.
The situation in rural Damascus is no better, after the opposition lost Daraya, the setbacks have been coming in consecutively across the villages of Ghouta and Douma.
