Druze Unitarian Sect laid to rest Saturday its Supreme
Spiritual Body Head, the late Sheikh Jawad Walieddine, in a wide official
funeral in Baakline. A crowd of prominent figures and popular delegations
attended the funeral service. Representing President of the Republic, General
Michel Sleiman, at the funeral was Justice Minister, Shakib Qortbawi, while MP
Ghazi Zeaiter represented House Speaker, Nabih Berry, and Information Minister,
Walid Daouk, represented Prime Minister, Najib Mikati.
Also among the participants were: Kataeb Party Head,
President Amine Gemayel, Lebanese Forces Party Representatives, MPs George
Adwan, Strida Geagea and Elie Keyrouz, MP Mohamad Hajjar representing former PM
Saad Hariri, former PM Selim
Hoss's representative, a delegation from "Dar El-Fatwa" representing
the Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Mohamad Kabbani, Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon,
Ghandanfar Rukn Abadi, and a number of current and previous cabinet ministers
and members of parliament.
Druze Sect delegations from various towns and villages in Mount Lebanon, Shouf,
Beqaa, Beirut, South Lebanon and the North also attended the funeral, alongside
delegations from Syria, Arab Mountain and Jordan.
Sheikh Hassan eulogized the late Sheikh Walieddine in a word that shed the light
on his many attributes and life of piety in service of the Lord and his people.
MP Jumblatt also received cables of condolences from House
Speaker, Nabih Berry, and Army Commander, Jean Kahwaji.
