REPORT: MP Aoun says first step to build a state is by respecting National Pact, Constitution

Head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun declared Sunday that building a state can only be achieved through the respect of the Constitution, the National Pact, the laws and the balanced participation of all sects without isolation or oppression.

In a speech he delivered during October 13th commemoration in Baabda, Aoun said that “the blood of the martyrs will remain a lighthouse and the inner voice that remind us to complete the mission they started and prevent them from giving up before realizing the dream and fulfilling the promise.”

For his part, Free Patriotic Movement chief, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, who was present in person in the demonstration, said that the FPM’s dream has always been “cleaning the country from corruption,” adding that “Lebanon without a National pact cannot be a nation.”

“Our dream is that Aoun stands on Baabda Palace’s balcony and addresses the people of Lebanon and by his side stand all the Lebanese leaders,” he stated.

In turn, Education Minister Elias Bou Saab declared that an agreement has been reached with former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, adding that they have become closer than ever to achieve partnership with all the Lebanese factions.

Supporters of the Free Patriotic Movement flocked from several regions to take part in demonstration held for October 13th commemoration.

FPM supporters stressed that Sunday’s movement comes to renew their trust in head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun, reiterating that he must be elected president.

Large screens were placed along the road in order to provide constant coverage for the demonstration and the speeches.
