Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai left the Beirut on Tuesday morning, and headed to Rome to attend a conference held in the Italian city of “Venice” on peace in Europe and neighboring countries, upon the invitation of the European Parliament.
From the airport, Rai expressed hope that all the attempts and contacts taking place “will have a happy ending for the good of Lebanon and its people.”
“I have not had the chance yet to hold a meeting with former PM Saad Hariri, but we have the same hope that these contacts will succeed, because the time has come after two years and a half of vacuum to have a president,” he added.
