Jreissati from Rabieh: Statements about bilateral power-sharing and civil war are “unacceptable”
Change and Reform bloc member former Minister Salim Jreissati said on Tuesday that statements issued about Christian-Sunni bilateral power-sharing and a civil war are “unacceptable.”

“They are aimed at blackmailing those who support us,” he said following the bloc’s weekly meeting in Rabieh.

“Those who would like to support us can support us, as for those who do not want to do so can join the ranks of the opposition,” he said.

Earlier, Speaker Nabih Berri's aide and Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil said that Berri's Development and Liberation bloc would “vote against” Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun in any presidential election session.
He also noted that Berri's AMAL Movement would “join the ranks of the opposition” should Aoun be elected president.
“We see things heading towards a Maronite-Sunni bilateral power-sharing of 1943 and we will confront this scenario,” Khalil added.
