Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq stressed that “his absolute priority is to build a State, in which the Cabinet and institutions will not be paralyzed.”
As for the presidential file, Mashnouq said, “I reiterate that a president will be elected before the end of the current year.”
In the same context, Lebanese Forces leader Sami Geagea said in a tweet that “Hasan will never be forgotten no matter how many days go by.”
“During this painful anniversary ... we remember with sorrow the loss of such a large security stature, which carried out many important security achievements, in pursuing fugitives, uncovering Israeli spy networks, and confronting terrorist organizations,” Future Movement chief Saad Hariri said in a statement.
Hasan, who was chief of the Intelligence Bureau of the Internal Security Forces at that time, was killed in a car bomb attack in the Beirut district of Ashrafiyeh on October 19, 2012.
