[PHOTOS] Banners raised in Tripoli denouncing Hariri’s decision to back Aoun

Supporters of resigned Minister Ashraf Rifi started raising banners across the northern city of Tripoli, denouncing former PM Saad Hariri’s decision to endorse MP Michel Aoun’s nomination for the presidency.

On Thursday, Hariri delivered a speech from Beit al-Wasat declaring his decision to endorse Aoun for the presidency, noting that common grounds were reached between both parties to defend the country, the law and to revive the public institutions.

Among the slogans used on the banners:

"Tripoli rejects the candidate of the Iranian tutelage"

"We will peacefully resist; surrender is not an option"

"The dignity of our martyrs is far more valuable than the chair"

"Whoever votes for Hezbollah's candidate does not represent us"

The banners were signed by "Friends of Maj. Gen. Ashraf Rifi."
