“Wissam al-Hassan proved that state institutions could be built if there were a will,” Mashnouq said as he marked the fourth anniversary of the assassination of Major General Wissam al-Hasan at the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces, in the presence of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri.
“Should Wissam was among us, he would have engaged in a settlement that protected the state,” he added.
On another note, the minister pointed out that the release of Michel Samaha shall not pass unnoticed.
For his part, ISF chief Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Basbous said that the institution, which loved Wissam and he loved it back, would always stay loyal to his big achievements.
Hasan, who was chief of the Intelligence Bureau of the ISF at that time, was killed in a car bomb attack in the Beirut district of Ashrafiyeh on October 19, 2012.
