[VIDEO] Kerry hopes for breakthrough over presidential elections in Lebanon
US Secretary of State John Kerry expressed on Friday hopes that Lebanon would head towards the election of a new president.

Kerry’s remarks come one day after Future Movement leader Saad Hariri endorsed Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun’s candidacy for the presidency.

“I am not certain what the outcome will be from the support that Hariri is offering, I don't know what the result will be, we're very hopeful, because this stalemate of the issue of the presidency is hurting Lebanon and it hurts the region and we hope that it will move forward," Kerry added.

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since the mandate of Michel Sleiman ended in May 2014 and Hezbollah, Aoun's Change and Reform bloc and some of their allies have been boycotting the parliamentary sessions tasked to elect a new president, stripping them of the needed quorum.
