Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil said Saturday that “no person, or party or group of parties can take it upon themselves to determine the choices of the Lebanese people, which are supposed to be respected through national agreements that can help end political deadlocks with the minimum negative repercussions.”
“We support any movement that leads towards the presidential election as soon as possible,” he stated, calling on all the parties to carry out their democratic duty and participate in the electoral session.
“We will not boycott the session, but we will practice our democratic right in expressing our stance and we will respect the will of the parliamentary majority,” he added, noting that they will congratulate the winner and “extend hand of real cooperation to serve the interest of Lebanon.”
