Berri told Aoun he could block his election, but won't
Speaker Nabih Berri said on Sunday that he had previously told Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun during a meeting between the two that can block his election as the country’s next president by preventing a quorum from being achieved in Parliament, adding however that he won't do so.

Berri’s comments were made to reporters from Geneva.

Aoun visited Berri in Ain al-Tineh on Thursday; shortly after Future Movement leader former Prime Minister Saad Hariri officially endorsed him for the presidency.

Parliament’s 46th attempt to elect a new president is set for October 31, which could see Aoun become president if he secures enough votes.
