Speaker Nabih Berri addressed the international parliaments on behalf of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Lebanese Parliament during the 135th session of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Geneva.
In his speech, Berri focused on the core of the crises sweeping through the region, calling for a fair solution to the Palestinian cause, the contribution of the world’s parliaments in fighting terrorism and reaching political solutions for the Syrian crisis, as well as supporting Lebanon in facing the refugee crisis.
“The essential solution is the parliaments’ efforts to reach political solutions that safeguard the stability of troubled countries, starting with the Palestinian cause,” he stated, urging for resolving the crises in Syria, Yemen, Libya and others.
He also called for supporting Lebanon in bearing the burden of the refugees, amounting to nearly half of its population and ending all interference in the country’s internal affairs.
